Orange Diaper Co. Custom Fitted Review

I hope this review of the Orange Diaper Co. Custom Fitted doesn’t come off as “gushing” but I just can’t help it.  Sometimes I fall in love with a company and/or a diaper, and it shows!  To learn more about Jenn and Orange Diaper Co. Autumn from All About Cloth Diapers interviewed her as well.  Enjoy this review and my video demonstration and try not to be jealous of my adorable Orange Diaper Co. Fitted!

Ease of Use ✩✩✩ Fitteds are always a more time consuming application process on a baby than a pocket or an All in One since you usually need to add a cover to the top. Even without a cover, this particular fitted has a total of 6 snaps to close, 3 on each tab. (You can order this fitted without any snaps, in which case you will need to use pins or a snappi with those that accept them). During the rolling/crawling phase using a 6 Snap diaper is a challenge (see video) however it can certainly be done.

Bang for the Buck ✩✩✩ I will readily admit that I am not in the position to buy an entire stash of these fitteds since they are upwards of 30$ each. I do see the value in how they look (I could browse this store all day- she carries the BEST print selections) and would not mind adding just a few for looks. I would definitely choose these over another (unnamed) brand of similar style fitteds. If you want to impress a pregnant friend, the price of the diaper includes a gorgeous ribbon around the diaper and she also makes “Little Oranges” for newborns.

Performance ✩✩✩✩ I LOVE fitteds for overnight and this Orange Diaper Co. fitted didn’t let me down! The soaker is organic bamboo fleece and the lining is Organic Bamboo Velour (OBV- also called bamboo from rayon). If I use fitteds during the day I leave them coverless. This diaper was hardly damp on the outside after my son wet it so I felt safe using it often without a cover.

Fit ✩✩✩ IF there was more room on the waist before I got to the third snap in on the Hip it would be a 5. The biggest downfall of the diaper is that when you get to a wider waist setting you will have a Male snap end exposed. This WILL touch your baby’s leg and won’t be comfortable. To remedy this I laid a cotton wipe, folded in half, over the inside of the diaper where the snaps would be exposed. I could just barely snap both sides on that third snap but it was too tight so we had to leave them with just 2 snaps closed on each tab. These fitteds without snaps at all would not have this issue. Otherwise, the crotch was nice and narrow and I loved that. And the rise has plenty of room left and folded over to be quite small as well.

Overall: I love my Oranges! I also have 2 of their Bamboo Terry Flats that served me well during the Flats Challenge and still work great. The workmanship is gorgeous and flawless. Just seeing the diaper you can tell this is made with love and skill. I chose yellow snaps to compliment the green and white cotton knit pattern and I am so pleased with the combo. More than anything, I love how beautifully the diapers come packaged. It is no ordinary Fluffy Mail. The washing instructions and clever too, “How to Wash Your Oranges” makes me smile every time I read it. The other huge selling point: Orange Diaper Co. diapers are made in the US and they are Organic. Also, from their website- “We’ve been unbelievably lucky & we want to pay it forward, so a portion of the proceeds from every diaper we sell is donated to ForKids, a local charity working to break the cycle of homelessness & poverty for children.
