It was only recently that I even knew that such a thing as a “nursing necklace” even existed. Once I knew what they were, I wanted one! I searched high and low for one that looked entertaining for my son, but that also looked fashionable for the mama. This was quite a task! Many of the necklaces were made with a hoop pendant. I didn’t like that. It was a chance encounter that brought me to Mommy Necklaces. They made exactly what I wanted, like they read my mind!’

I chose a dangling pendant in Rainstorm. The aquas, blues, and browns have complimented many of my outfits well. The donut slides around on the beaded strand, making sounds and providing a fun activity for my son. Occasionally, he will try to chew it. These necklaces are meant to play with, not to chew. But, I don’t worry too much about it! The beads are plastic, and are tested to meet the CPSIA safety standards. Speaking of safety, Mommy Necklaces are built for it. The strand is a super strong, water resistant cord. This baby isn’t going to break it any time soon. The necklace uses a safety clasp. To prevent the cord from breaking from extreme tugging, the clasp will open if too much force is applied.

Now, this necklace is meant to engage my son during our nursing sessions. As he has gotten older, the outside world can get to him. He will pop off at sounds and passerbys. Nursing in public is something I do often, but my son popping off on a whim isn’t fun. NIP isn’t a spectator sport. While not a fool proof remedy, my Mommy Necklace has really helped give my little guy something to focus on. He loves to tug at it and listen to the noise the donut makes against the beads. We have used this necklace for quite a few flights. The pictures below are from a recent flight; he fell asleep while playing with the necklace.

I have gotten so many compliments on the appearance of my necklace. When I tell my friends it is a “nursing necklace” they can’t believe it. The beads don’t even look like cheap plastic beads!
The best part: Mommy Necklaces is a mommy run company! Even better, you can to win one! You can either win Cherish or Antique Rose with your choice of pendant.

My twins are at what I call the age of distraction. Any little noise, person that walks by or anything and they will pull off painfully. This would be nice to keep them distracted in a different way from pulling off or slapping my chest repeatedly! 🙂
Mommy Necklaces™ were invented to occupy busy hands away from Mommy’s hairline while engaging baby in a way that results in longer nursing sessions.
