Ended-EcoStore Natural Baby Products Review and Giveaway-

*Note* My site has had some techincal difficulties.  I am extending the giveaway.  You will notice some ways to enter are nonexistent.  Check back later or feel free to enter ones that are working!

One of my son’s favorite activities has always been bath time.  He was never a baby to cry when being put in, or out of the bath.  In fact, some of his cutest smiles happen in his tub!  Like most new parents, we have been using bath products gifted to us at our baby shower.  This includes the typical “no tears” formula.  Then, when I switched to a “natural” baby wash, it had such a strong odor that when my son perspired, he smelled like brown sugar.  No thank you.

EcoStore sent me two of their baby body products to try and review.  The company, originally based in New Zealand, which has recently expanded into the US market, produces plant based, non toxic, free of nasty chemical, personal care products for adults as well as kids.  They also make natural cleaning products.  Here is what the website says:

Our eco friendly, plant-based household cleaning products are as effective as the leading supermarket brands, and our body and baby care ranges are gentle on your skin and are simply beautiful to use. Our pet care products let you spoil your pets with our nourishing, rich blends of ingredients and show them how much you care by reducing their exposure to unhealthy chemicals.

All of our products are made from plant- and mineral-based ingredients, free of toxic chemicals that bring people closer to nature with non-toxic, environmentally safe solutions that also help to reduce our carbon footprint.

Our products also help to ensure value for the dollar for our customers. We know it can be expensive to buy natural or organic products but we’ve found a way to safely super-concentrate our formulations. Our super-concentrates means that a little really does go a long way – saving you money by cutting down significantly on cost per use.  Now available in the USA market, ecostore USA is partnered with New Zealand-based ecostore; a mainstream choice in consumer products that help people throughout New Zealand, Australia, and select locations in Asia and the UK, take better care of their health and homes. For even more information about our New Zealand partners, visit their site at www.ecostore.co.nz.

I tested out the Baby Body wash, and Baby Moisturizer.  My first impression: no wasteful plastic packaging.  Moms of older children are probably familiar with the character soaps which feature a large lid in the likeness of Elmo or Dora.  Can you imagine how much plastic is wasted on the packaging of those products?  EcoStore’s packaging is pleasant to the eyes, with a simplistic and clean look, and pleasant to the earth!

The scent is a very light, clean fragrance.  Bonus: EcoStore uses no synthetic perfumes or dyes.  One of the reasons I disliked my other “natural” soap was the heavy fragrance!  If it was strong enough to seep into my son’s skin and be released at a later time when he sweat, it probably isn’t that natural.

One way the company helps you save money, and packaging, is by offering a concentrated formula of their body wash (and other products)  I was pleased to find I needed only a small amount to get a great lather going.  By putting a small amount on my wash cloth, I was able to wash my son’s entire body.  I even used the body wash on his hair, which produced a very clean lather!

After the bath we applied the Baby Moisturizer.  It also had that very clean and light scent, which I appreciated.  My baby is already smooth as a baby (there is no other way to put it) so adding lotion was purely for fun.  It is a way to give him a light massage before bed and to help him relieve the stress after a hard day of being a baby!  EcoStore also makes baby massage oil.

Another reason to buy EcoStore products for your baby (or you): the recent discoveries of dangerous chemicals in our children’s bath products.  Even some of the “natural” brands were named as having trace amounts of formaldehyde and dioxane. Johnson and Johnson, and even Aveeno, were on the list.  I suggest taking a look at this chart, which has an exhaustive list of products containing Formaldehyde or dioxane.  Other baby products have been found to have phylates, which, if able to seep into your child’s skin through lotion or soaps, can lead to male infertility!!!  Here is the link for more information on that as well.

Although I do not take care of MYSELF as well I should, I believe in giving my baby the best start in life.  That means avoiding chemicals, dyes, artificial scents, and the other yuckies out there.  EcoStore has many great products for babies, and moms and dads.
