Harper loves to color, it’s one of the only activities where I can give her complete autonomy and she’ll be happy and involved long enough for me to wash the dishes. She seems to prefer blank paper to coloring books, but for convenience we keep a few books on hand as they are easier to tidy up at nap time. She loves helping put the crayons away when she’s done. I designated a little cardboard box for them that is easier for her to put them in than the tightly packed sleeve they came in, and I can even request specific colors for her to pick up and put away, making our little game educational as well as a good life lesson. I love that she is becoming so independent and helpful, it’s going to make a huge difference when her sister comes next month.
Bummis sent us their incredibly popular Duo-Brite wrap and inserts to review, I’m so excited to share this one with you. It’s not often you come across a system that is so quick and simple to use while still being really affordable. The covers also come in five adorable colorful prints, including my personal favorite, Elephant Tales.
[typography font=”Crafty Girls” size=”24″ size_format=”px”]Ease of Use✩✩✩✩✩[/typography] The Duo-Brite inserts come with a unique snap system that allows you to secure it in place without ever letting the male part of the snap irritate your baby’s skin while still being completely reversible. One side is organic cotton, the other is stay-dry, so you can experiment with what your little one likes best. It’s a snap (literally, hah!) to replace the insert at diaper changes, so a single cover can get you through multiple changes quickly and easily. [typography font=”Crafty Girls” size=”24″ size_format=”px”]Bang for the Buck✩✩✩✩✩[/typography] Bummis offers a deluxe pack that includes a cover and three reversible inserts for only 56.95, which is an incredible deal for three diaper changes in such a simple and quick system. You can also purchase the wrap separately for 17.95 and the inserts for 13.75 each. These products are made in Canada with materials from the USA, so you can count on quality, and the wrap is 2 mm thick, so it will stand up to a lot of abuse and last a long time. (Kim’s Note: this works out to about $19 per change. It is more than most AI2’s but there are other factors to consider, like country of origin and longevity of the product due to the incredibly high standards Bummis has for their materials.) [typography font=”Crafty Girls” size=”24″ size_format=”px”]Performance ✩✩✩✩✩[/typography] Each Duo-Brite insert is made with a very special absorbent material manufactured in the USA that holds a ton of liquid but still washes out easily. No stinky microfiber on this diaper, so you’ll have easier wash days and less odor issues to worry about in your stash. The center of the insert has a stitched line running down the core, so liquid is attracted towards the center and less likely to run off the edges. The wrap is gusseted, which has been a lifesaver for me as those gussets catch anything the inserts don’t.
