The Boon Oval Animal Bag was an item I had been eyeing for a while. I always seemed to miss it on sale! If your child has a lot of stuffed animals (surprisingly, my not yet 2 year old boy does!) you probably have a hard time storing them. I used to use a hanging hammock but after we moved we realized the screws left ginormous holes in the wall. We didn’t want to do that to the new walls in my son’s room. For almost a year his animals lurked in a plastic garbage bag in his closet, taking up precious storage space and never getting played with. Then, the Boon Oval Animal Bag came into our lives!
This oversized, plush bag is covered with large, zippered windows made out of transparent, durable mesh. Children can fill the bag with stuffed animals of all sizes, and then use the Animal Bag as a soft seat. Made from high quality, breathable fabrics, the Animal Bag is machine washable, or it can be dry-cleaned.

The nice thing is that even though it is “big” it is empty when it is shipped, and packed expertly! It comes is a surprisingly small box! After unfolding it I rushed to my closet to liberate the prisoners from their dark fortress. The animals were happy to see me!
I packed the troops into the bag through various zippered round openings, made from mesh. This allows the children to see the animals inside so they never forget that yes, there are toys to play with in there!
I was shocked that the garbage bag full of animals did not fully stuff the bag. I hunted down a couple of rogue animals and one tiny stuffed pillow, as well as a soft book, and threw those in as well. This took up more slack. It could be stuffed even more, but having it slightly less than full has made a “flat top” great for sitting on. He is pretty small so he doesn’t have a lot of weight to push the animals down. He floats!
The look of the Boon Oval Animal Bag is typical Boon, and just my style! Everything Boon makes is something I would, and probably do, have in my home. They make truly practical solutions to parenting.
Is it big?
Kinda. My son’s room isn’t that large and I was worried this thing would end up in our livingroom due to space issues. Fortunately we found a nice corner for it and it has been great there! He sits on the bag and plays with a few toys surrounding him. I have also used the seat and let me tell you, it isn’t that bad!
Does he play with the animals still?
Yes! I was also worried he would forget the animals existed. Thankfully the holes are mesh and see through. Plus, what little toddler isn’t fascinated with zippers? Randomly I spot rogue animals around his room. Or he brings me an animal and expressed the noise it makes! I catch him cuddling the soft duck he received from an aunt in Germany or the elephant from another family member in Germany (apparently most of these animals are foreign).
