Ones & Twos Video and Review

Like a lot of the cloth diapers I have been reviewing lately I saw the Ones & Twos for the first time at ABC Kids Expo back in September. I wasn’t expecting to see them but there they were! The Ones & Twos are a trim, All-in-One cloth diaper that come in 6 bright and fun colors. They only come in hook and loop closures. This is one of the few true AIO‘s meaning it is sewn down and acts just like a disposable. There are 4 rise adjustments on the front of the diaper as well.

Ease of Use ✩✩✩✩ The Ones & Twos are about as easy as they come when it comes to putting onto the baby. Unless you are using the booster (which you might need if your baby wets more than the built in soaker will hold) then you just place it on the baby and secure the velcro tabs. DONE! Now, if you need to size the diaper there are 4 settings and 3 snaps per row to snap/unsnap. This can be seen in the video. If you need to add a booster just lay in on top of the diaper lining, making sure that the suedecloth is what touches the baby and not the microfiber.

Bang for the Buck ✩✩✩✩✩ For a TRUE AIO the price can’t be beat! 16.95 is a steal for a one size AIO that also comes with a booster. They sell an optional bamboo booster as well.  These would be a great daycare diaper too!

Performance ✩✩✩ The diaper without the booster might not be absorbent enough for some babies. It should hold between 2-4 hours worth unless your baby is a super heavy wetter, in which case you might add the booster to get you through. Without the booster it seemed to last 2-3 and with the booster 3-4. We never go longer than 4 hours without changing unless it is overnight.
Plumber Butt

Fit ✩✩✩ The fit was what we had the hardest time with when reviewing this AIO. Keep in mind that when it comes to fit, one person’s problem can be another person’s desired fit. The Ones & Twos AIO is super trim and it has small leg openings. The elastic is sewn to be very taut. I see this being great for babies with chicken legs and for a newborn. I also thought that maybe, for those buying it to use beginning on a newborn, that by the time they grow to the middle and large snap settings, that the elastic will have worn out enough that it will fit perfectly. We started testing it new on the middle rise snap and it left some pretty wicked red marks on Ev. He has a little above averge chub on his thighs. We settled on using the diaper on the second to largest rise because this gave his thighs more room. If the leg openings had been larger we would have preferred the third largest setting (one snap exposed versus two). The issue was that with the setting that fit his legs it left some bulk in between his thighs because the rise had extra room. He also suffered from “plumber butt” on occasion with this diaper. The Ones & Twos are extremely trim between the legs, exactly the same width as the Fuzzibunz Elite!

Overall: In the end these diapers didn’t work well for us due to the leg openings being too small. But again, that means for the babies who have had a hard time finding a tight fit with other One Size diapers, that this is going to work well for them. The diaper is Trim, Affordable, Easy, and Nice to look at. There are a ton of good reasons to try the diaper if the fit will work.  They dried as fast as my pocket diapers too, which is a huge plus for an AIO.

Tots Bots Bamboozle Stretch Review

Ease of Use ✩✩✩✩✩ This is right up there with the easiest fitteds to use. A velcro closing fitted really cuts down on time when you know you also have to add a cover on top. To size there are only two snaps, one on each side, to close. But as with all multi sized cloth diapers you won’t need to do this very often. Sometimes the snap in insert comes unsnapped int he washer/dryer so y ou will need to snap it back in before using if you need it.
Bang for the Buck ✩✩✩ The Bamboozle will run you 19.95, not a cheap diaper in comparison to others that are already waterproof. Funny enough, usually fitteds are more expensive that Pocket cloth diapers. Since fitteds also need a cover you will have to factor that into the cost. Still, finding a relatively trim fitted that works great for overnights is well worth the 20.00 if you have ever woken up to wet sheets (like I have before).  There are cheaper fitteds that work as well, and more expensive fitteds that don’t.
Performance ✩✩✩✩✩ WONDERFUL! This is a very absorbent diaper. It is soft, and has stayed soft through quite a few washes. It really does the job well, no complaints here.
Fit ✩✩✩✩ There is quite a bit of room for growth on Ev. He is on the Size 2 on the middle snap so he has more room in the wiast and in the rise. I have no tried the Size 1 so I can’t tell you if it truly begins fitting at 5 pounds or if it lasts until 18 pounds. The Size 2 is said to start fitting at 9 pounds and up to 35 pounds.  The stretch of the diaper does make it fit like a GLOVE.  I’m telling you, it is a breeze to put on and get a wonderful fit.
Overall:There are a ton of reasons to like this diaper. Top being the trimness (for a fitted) and second being the softness. The only drawback is also part of its attributes: the velcro. Tots Bots velcro is very strong but it is also rough and the edges are hard. Even the most experienced cloth diaper user might find that the velcro can rub on the baby’s tummy and/or thighs. It is something to be aware of and watch for. If you find red rubbing marks on areas around the velcro you need to re-assess the size setting, which might help avoid that problem, or be more careful when putting the velcro tabs together. Most of the time the cover will end up keeping them safe from the velcro.

Weehuggers Review

I have been asked for a very long time to review a Weehuggers.  Finally I broke down and bought one.  I can’t always, nor will I, go and buy diapers to review because this is very expensive since I do one review a week.  Still, I was curious myself.  I was really impressed with the cover and the thought behind it.  Unfortunately I had a hard time filming and editing this review for whatever reason.  I had fussy kids both times.  Please disregard the bad job on these this week!

Ease of Use ✩✩✩✩ Weehuggers come in either snaps or velcro closures and have a 3 step rise system adjustment within each Size (Size 1 and Size 2). The Ccver is very easy no matter which closure method you choose, but the overall easiness will depend on what to put in it or underneath it. Some fitteds are harder than others to put on, but it you choose Weehuggers inserts to use in the cover, or another lay in option, this is the easiest way to go and make Weehuggers into an All in Two System.
Bang for the Buck ✩✩✩ One of the reasons it took me a while to review this cover is that it is pretty pricey. At 18.95 for what is, for my purposes, going to be used as a cover was a hard price tag to swallow. When I got the cover though I was so impressed with the quality of it. It looks very luxe! The velcro tabs are little mittens (and apparently this is not an automated process, it is done by hand) The PUL feels and looks really high quality, and the snaps are reinforced. Things that, while not everyone cares about or appreciates, do drive up the cost. They are also made in the USA.
Performance ✩✩✩✩ For nights I chose to use the Weehuggers as a Cover over fitteds since this is my tried and true nighttime solution. The cover fared perfectly and we both woke up dry. During the day I chose to use it with my Sustainable Babyish flats. These are awesome lay in inserts. I could replace them as needed when wet for the Weehuggers to become an AI2. In the video you might notice that there are cotton panels at the front and back which hold in your inserts. The creator, Lisa, put a lot of thought into the design because they are backed with PUL. Soft for the baby on top and water resistant behind. It isn’t 100% but it does work as long as the insert isn’t super saturated or the baby pees right on top of them somehow.
Fit ✩✩✩✩✩ Unlike another Dual Size cover I have been using, my 5 month old is on the fully snapped down rise on the Weehuggers so it gives me the impression that it will last a little longer for him. True? I won’t know for quite a while. I also liked the way the cover fit his waist. Some velcro covers tend to bunch up because it is thick and hard to flex. There were also no deep red marks or anything to make me think my son was uncomfortable in them.
Overall: I will say one thing: I can tell these covers are made with love. I don’t know that I have said this before, but just from looking at the way they were designed and thought out I see the influence of a cloth diapering mom. I wasn’t converted over from my love of Pocket Diapers, but I guarantee you this is the favorite system for oodles of parents out there. Plus, Weehuggers offer some adorable prints in Cotton Knit over the PUL. This poses a risk of wicking but for daytime use it shouldn’t happen often, if ever.  The only negative thing I experienced with the cover was what seems to be a defect in the sewing of one of the velcro tabs.  The top has peeled back a tiny bit.  It doesn’t affect function for now, I just hope it doesn’t come undone any further.

Where to Buy: You can find Weehuggers at many cloth diaper retailers, including one of my affiliate’s, Fluff Envy!

I purchased this cover to review after receiving a ton of requests.

Mo Dia One Size Pocket Diaper Review

Mo Dia is an Etsy brand that combines stylish designer prints, colorful snap combos, and PUL solid colors to create a gorgeous cloth diaper!  The diapers are made my two Mom’s who obviously have an eye for style!  I would say this is a WAHM diaper but these ladies have day jobs and make diapers, plus they are moms!  They definitely stay busy!

Ease of Use ✩✩✩ Like many snapping diapers, this one has 4 snaps to close, two on each tab.  If you have the velcro version it would go on just like a disposable.  It is a pocket so it has to be stuffed before being used, and unstuffed before being washed.  An added step will be folding the insert before inserting it to the desired size.

Bang for the Buck ✩✩✩✩ A Mo Dia will run about 20.00, including the hemp insert.  I find that to be a more than fair price factoring in labor, quality materials, and an awesome insert.

Performance ✩✩✩✩ Ev has tested this diaper pretty thoroughly, including overnight.  The hemp insert is very absorbent, one of my favorite features of the diaper.  I underestimated my son and began using the diaper on the smallest setting but after a couple of leaks went to the middle rise and this solved the problem.

Fit ✩✩✩ In the rise the fit was great for my son once we went to the middle setting, and we have room for growth in that setting as well as once the diaper is unsnapped.  Waist wise I think the diaper could use more width.  Now that I have a chunky baby I see how he could outgrow this diaper in the waist at some point.  In the video I show you where the diaper snaps and that the male snap ends would hit skin if done any wider.  If they added an inch or two to the waist that would help.  The waist elastic is a good idea and I am seeing more diapers adopt this design. (FYI, the velcro version would not have this issue)

Overall- The combinations of prints and colors that these women come up with for their diapers are pretty fabulous!  You won’t see diapers like this that are mass produced.  Their velcro tabs look awesome but I haven’t tried them.

Where to buy: Mo Dia Etsy Store or Z Bears

Tiny Tush Elite 1.1 Review

Tiny Tush Elite 1.1 Review

I have had a relationship with Charlene, the inventor and owner of Tiny Tush, for almost as long as my website as been around.  (forever, right?!)  Before I even introduce the diaper I have to say that Charlene is one of the nicest, most caring, compassionate people I have ever had the pleasure of doing business with.  When I put out the call for cloth diapers to send to families in need 2 Christmases ago, she didn’t just send 1 box, she sent 2 gigantic boxes.  And she even wanted to send more.  She does so much for others and her commitment to cloth diapers is a small part of it.  Now that you know a little about Charlene, I will tell you about the new Tiny Tush Elite 1.1.  I reviewed it a year ago, but there have been some exciting improvements!  Now, the rise snaps match the color of the PUL.  This is a biggie for me!  I think matching snaps (or coordinating for funkiness) add to the look of the diaper, whereas white snaps detract.  Also, she added a cross over snap for the smaller waisted infants and newborns and spaced out the tab snaps more.  Everything else is the same.

Ease of Use ✩✩✩✩ The Elite 1.1 still comes in a snapping and velcro version.  The velcro is easy peasy, but since it is a pocket you still need to unstuff the diaper before washing and restuff it.  There is only 1 row of snaps, but 2 on each tab, so a total of 4.  Without hip snaps it is quicker to put on.  The reverse envelope design of the pocket opening prevents poop from getting in the pocket (a huge PITA) but it also makes unstuffing a little harder because you need to open that space and remove it.  There is no chance of just shaking the insert out, so have a cloth wipe handy!

Bang for the Buck ✩✩✩✩ The price is still 17.95.  You get 1 large and 1 small microfiber insert (imported) and the pocket diaper (MADE IN THE US).  You also have the option on their website to upgrade inserts to US made, or cotton.  Now the snaps match the PUL, and that to me makes them look more expensive.  This is the same price you pay for most other OS diapers.

Performance ✩✩✩✩ I use these diapers a lot.  Both the new 1.1 and the old version.  That should say something when you take into account how many diapers I have to choose from.  They work great, are absorbent, and are easy to use.  I haven’t really had any leaks with the new 1.1, but with the old version I had a few when Ev was on the smallest rise setting of the velcro version.

Fit ✩✩✩✩ The TT Elite 1.1 still has a 4 step rise system, and will fit babies 7-35 pounds.  Fletcher wears it with 2 snaps exposed (26 pounds, 2 years old) and Ev wears it with 1 set (16 pounds, 4 months).  It isn’t the TRIMMEST pocket, and when it is on the smaller rises sometimes the microfleece leaves peeks out from the top.  Not much I can do to prevent it but that hasn’t caused leaks.  I love that there are cross over snaps, they are great when you need them!

Overall- The new colors are really pretty.  I tested the Seaspray and it is a very nice color.  There are lights and bolds, a great variety.  Having a velcro or snap option is wonderful!  I really like supporting companies like Tiny Tush.  They try hard to keep production in the US, and do so much good in the world.  Plus, they truly listen to feedback (as evidenced by the improvements).

Where to Buy: Tiny Tush

A TT Elite 1.1 was provided for the purposes of this review.  No other compensation was received.  All opinions are 100% my own and genuine.

Intro to Cloth Diaper Series: What is a Pocket Diaper?

Intro to Cloth Diaper Series: What is a Pocket Diaper?

The next video in my Introduction to Cloth Diaper Series is all about pocket diapers! If you are brand new to cloth diapering the terminology is certainly confusing.

A pocket diaper is any cloth diaper that has a pocket opening. I focused on PUL shells (what is PUL?) with a lining and opening, but they are not limited to just that. There are fleece, wool, and even fitted (non waterproof) varieties as well. Still, the PUL shell with a stay dry lining is the most popular, like bumGenius! 4.0 and Fuzzibunz.

The pocket diaper can have an opening at the back (most common), front, or even in the middle.

Openings can be “hidden,” meaning there is a flap over the opening (ex. bumGenius! 4.0/3.0), completely open at the back (ex. Happy Heiny’s), or the envelope style where they tuck in (ex. Tiny Tush Elite), or they can simply have a slit opening.

Linings include:

Stay Dry- Microfleece or suedecloth. (comprehensive post on stay dry linings here)

Non Stay Dry- Cotton velour, bamboo velour, hemp/cotton, bamboo looped terry, cotton looped terry, bamboo fleece.

Pockets are popular because they are customizable and dry quicker than All-in-Ones but remain convenient.  They are also less expensive than most All-in-Ones.

Most pocket diapers come with microfiber inserts, the same material used commonly for towels to clean cars or mop pads.  It is cheap and absorbent.  You can also find pockets that come with hemp, cotton, bamboo, zorb, and more.

As shown in the video, there are many styles of pockets.  Middle closing with velcro or snaps, side snapping, one size, sized, and even dual size (another video).

The biggest drawback of pockets comes when it is time to wash (unstuffing the diaper to allow the insert to be throughly washed) and restuffing it when the diaper is clean and dry.  A typical load of pockets (15 diapers) will take 5-10 minutes to stuff.  Expect to wash every 1.5-3 days.  I have a continuous motion video of washing and stuffing diapers to give you an idea.

In its most basic form, a pocket is still just a shell with an opening for you to stuff an absorbent insert.  But wow are there a lot of options!

bumGenius 4.0 Compared to bumGenius 3.0

bumGenius 4.0 Compared to bumGenius 3.0

If you have been reading my blog for a while you probably know that I am a “fan” of bumGenius! products.  I have been using their 3.0′s since my son fit into them (around 12-14 pounds, leak free) and their Elementals (Organic AIO‘s) since I bought a few when he was a couple of months old.  I have reviewed the 3.0 (BG 3.0 Review) and Elemental (Elemental- FMA BG Organic AIO- review) already.  I won’t say I was disappointed when they announced that the 3.0 was being discontinued since I knew the next diaper (I correctly predicted would be called 4.0) would be very similar with a few improvements.  The most obvious improvement they needed to make, improving the hook and loop closure and adding snaps, were both realized.  Bonus improvements: the ability to easily replace elastic and a higher rise.

They also added new colors, which I am not a huge fan of.  I will specifically say I am not a fan of their names.  Why must color names be so confusing?  Case in point:  I ordered 2 bumGenius! 4.0′s to review, one with hook and loop and one in snaps.  I ordered 2 of the new colors: Noodle and Bubble.  I didn’t double check what the colors were.  Bubble= lavender.  Let me ask you, when you think of a bubble, do you think of purple or blue?  Water=blue.  Bubbles=blue.  Also, the color Sweet reminds me of lavender or pink.  That is pale green.  Noodle is the light yellow, which does make sense.  Noodles are yellow, or pale yellow, and this is an accurate description of that color.  I do not like that I need to research the colors, which not all stores have listed with a description or photo (and photos don’t help since the colors are so pale, they all look the same) before I buy.  My son has a purple diaper.  So what?  Wanna fight about it?

New Color Guide:

Bubble= Light Lavender

Noodle= Light Yellow

Sweet= Light Green

Update: bumGenius has re-released their beloved “Brights” colors and has released a series of prints. You can view all of the new prints by heading to my blog post about theChelsea Perry Tiny Socialite Collection, it includes action shots of them all.

    My Review

Ease of Use ✫✫✫✫✫ The 4.0 doesn’t differ from the 3.0 in this regard.  I tell anyone who asks me about a good intro cloth diaper that they should try the 3.0 (now I say 4.0).  It is affordable, durable, easy to use with the hook and loop (and snaps), simple to find the right fit, and easy to take off.  You still need to affix the laundry tabs before washing, and you need to remove the insert.  You will need to restuff the diaper before baby wears it.  Is it easy?  Yes.  Is it as easy as an AIO? No.  Is it worth the extra steps?  Pretty much.  Pockets dry faster than most AIO‘s and are generally cheaper.  I do wish the laundry tabs were closer to the actual tab, so that when I change the baby I could just pinch it closed rather than seek out the tab farther in.  I have to look for it.  Some diapers you don’t need to do this.

Bang for the Buck: ✫✫✫✫ The 4.0 is the same price as the 3.0 was: 17.95.  bumGenius! keeps their prices consistent among retailers.  It is hard to find a “sale” on them.  However, they are worth the investment.  My 3.0′s have lasted for almost 2 years.  I am hopeful that the improved hook and loop will last on the 4.0, and replaceable elastic will also contribute to their life span.  You will see that a few hundred dollars for a stash of 4.0′s will still be far less than the thousands of dollars you would have spent on disposables.

Performance ✫✫✫✫✫ I am going to say that I have had no leaks, no fit issues, nothing with the 4.0.  I was new to cloth when I started with the 3.0 and did experience leaks due to my repelling issues.  I have used these overnight with both inserts and I also had no leaks.  I do prefer fitteds overnight but I was happy to report dry sheets!

Fit ✫✫✫✫ I can at this time only speak to the fit on my toddler.  He is still on the middle rise snap (has been for a very long time) so he has growing room.  In the video you can see a comparison to the 3.0 in terms of the change in rise.  While it isn’t a massive jump I figure it will help increase the time babies can wear these.  He doesn’t get red marks from elastic.  The diapers aren’t terribly bulky with one insert.

Overall- I am very happy with the 4.0, as I was with the 3.0.  Like I said, these are really great for any parents first starting out.  They don’t have bells and whistles like some diapers, and they don’t want to.  You need to start somewhere and learn how to cloth diaper.  These are simple enough to do that.  Not everyone loves microfiber inserts because they can build up the stinkies.  Microfiber is a more affordable insert option, but if you want you can always upgrade to a hemp/cotton/bamboo/zorb insert at a later time.

Where to buy: Pretty much any cloth diaper store.  But, if you want, you can support my blog by buying yours at Kelly’s Closet.

For the Cloth Diapering Dads!

Can change a diaper, even cloth, in under 2 minutes!

Loves the velcro diapers, but doesn’t complain about snaps!

Often forgets to attach the laundry tabs.

Takes all the “easy” diapers first.

Hopes it isn’t a poopy diaper…..

Doesn’t have to take out bags full of stinking disposables to the curb.

Instinctually removes inserts from pockets before putting them in the wet bag.

Always gets the different terms confused, but in a cute way.

Puts the wrong kind of diaper on sometimes, but hey, he is trying!

Even knows many brand names of cloth diapers.

Remembers to leave wool out of the diaper pail, most of the time.

Is grossed out by disposables and thinks they are a waste of money and landfill.

Never complains about spending too much on diapers.

Gives coworkers talks about why they too should use cloth diapers.

Digs having his kid in cute diapers.

Always lets Mom do the diaper laundry, but only because he fears messing it up.

Deserves a special award for being awesome and understanding.

Happy Father’s Day to all of the Cloth Diapering Dads; whether they be active participants, unwilling but coaxable partners, or even just the financial backers of the obsession.

And of course a special Happy Father’s Day to my own husband.  He has been very supportive of cloth diapers (among other things) and has helped me to keep my website going through moral and HTML support.  Plus, he is a great Dad!  Love you Steven!

KAM Snap Pliers Review for a Bum Genius 3.0 Conversion and Giveaway (7/1) *closed*

KAM Snap pliers got in touch with me to see if I could do a review of their snap pliers while doing a bumGenius! 3.0 snap conversion.  Honestly, I was going to say no.  I don’t have a ton of time to spare, and I haven’t done any crafts in quite a while.  I was also unsure if I could do it.  You know, do it and not ruin one of my beloved 3.0′s.  I decided to look around their website to view how it was done.  To my surprise, it looked fairly simple.  So simple, even I could do it. And, I also remembered that the Hushamok Hammock I purchased used for baby boy number 2 had a broken snap.  That made the decision for me!

I chose to get snaps in Ribbit to match one of my 3.0′s that could use snaps.  I already had the majority of my BG‘s converted to snaps many months ago.  All I had left were 3 white BG‘s and one in Ribbit with the original velcro.  I also got the Ooga Booga engraved snaps which are super cute and add some fun to your diaper.  Having the snaps match is very important.  If you ever want to resell them, you will get more if the snaps are BG color and not white or random.

engraved-ooga-bgribbit

I took my time on getting things done.  One evening I watched the video tutorial portion on taking off the velcro.  I did have a seam ripper, and I carefully removed both the velcro strip and the tabs.  The tabs were harder to undo than the strip.  But overall it was less time consuming than I thought.  I just watched TV and ripped.

Then, I realized I needed lined notebook paper for the next step.  Ummm…… really?  I didn’t have a single sheet of lined paper in my house.  Printing paper?  Yep!  I haven’t used lined paper since college. So I googled for a printable template to use and found one for 1 line conversions.  I wanted two.  It took me a few days to get to the store to buy some paper.  (I did make my own template and scanned it but my scanner is only printing, not scanning to the computer.  ARGH.  If you really want it let me know and I will try to get it working.)

Making the template was the hardest part for me.  I despise measuring, and numbers.  I wanted to do a good job and have my snaps lined correctly so I took my time and triple checked.  I still messed up a little on my alignment from the top of the diaper.

After I made my template, marked where my snaps would go, and laid all of my snaps and sockets out, I was ready to actually SNAP.  I was kind of excited.

Snapping wasn’t as hard as I imagined.  You need to put muscle in, and you need to align the snaps to ensure that they actually SNAP, and that is it.  Snap away.

Would I want to use pliers full time if I made diaper for resell?  No.  Would I use pliers to convert a few diapers?  Yes.  KamSnaps also sells a snap press, which is better for snapping diapers you are making in large quantities.

Since I spent over 30.00 to get my diapers converted, and only had a few done, I think the price is worth it even just for conversions.  By the time you figure in shipping to the WAHM and back, you have spent a good bit.  These pliers are great when you have many to do.  You will save so much.

And PS, in case you are wondering, I fixed the snap on my hammock too.  Worked like a charm!  The snap may be green but I think it gives it character, plus the baby won’t mind.

PPS, I was going to add photos of my conversions but as luck would have it they are both in the wash the day I planned to take the pics/ post them.  I will update with those later.

Bum Essentials Bumbino Review

Bum Essentials Bumbino AI2 review.

Ease of Use ✰✰✰✰ The Bum Essentials is an AI2 that has one soaker and a booster option.  The booster can be already snapped in or you can just use the soaker.  Either way you only need to snap in the booster at the changes if you have things prepared ahead of time.  The tabs are velcro and can be closed easily on the baby.  I will say that the front elastic does make it a little harder to put on than a traditional cloth diaper with velcro.  You have to make sure the velcro strip is flat when affixing the tabs.  You can do this by stretching the diaper pver the baby while putting it on.

Bang for the Buck ✰✰✰✰ The diaper runs 19.99 for the shell and a soaker/ booster combo in the terry material.  The is slightly less than some other AI2‘s but more than a typical pocket diaper.  I love the terry material used for the soaker.  You can also buy a bamboo soaker/booster combo.  For extra soakers (bamboo or terry) it is 9.50.

Performance ✰✰✰✰ The soakers are absorbent and made from a nice material.  I was sent both the terry and bamboo and I prefer the terry but the bamboo held up just as well.  I never had a leak with them and I think with the booster is a nice addition for toddlers.

Fit ✰✰✰ The tabs are very generously sized, giving even the widest waists ample room to grow.  I did have a good bit of leg gaping that I couldn’t seem to get any smaller.  If my son were a heavier wetter I imagine there would have been leaks.  His legs are on the smaller side so even an average baby or larger baby would have better luck.  The elastic on the front bunched the velcro strip so you have to be careful when you close the tabs.  (Again, stretch it over the baby first) I had an instance of the tab coming off because it wasn’t attached to all of the strip.

Overall- I like the ideas behind this diaper but would love to see a few thing tweaked.  The snaps for the soaker are only snapped in the microfleece.  This means it could rip easier than if it were attached through PUL.  I realize this is a design choice and ripping the snap can be avoided by unsnapping the soaker before washing and pulling it off close to the snap.  But, I am not always careful.  I already addressed some of the other concerns in different areas of the review.  I do like the colors the diapers come in, especially Rocket Red, and the soakers are made from good materials and very absorbent.  I also like the generous size on the tabs.  As with all diapers, there are features I love and some I don’t.

Bum Essentials Wet Bag- I was also sent a Bum Essentials wet bag to try.  The neat thing about it is that is is reversible.  When you wash if it flips inside out it doesn’t matter!  It is a good size for a longer day trip, but too big for an outing to the store.  It is a great size for swimwear or wet clothes and would be a good one to keep around just in case!

The diaper and wetbag were sent free of charge.  All opinions expressed are my own.
