Sponsor Love- Without them there would be no DDL!

Running a blog can be hard work.  Unlike many personal blogs, Dirty Diaper Laundry isn’t just about finding time to pound at the keyboard.  Video work, editing, audio dubbing, and posting written reviews and articles all take a tremendous amount of time.  Without the financial support of my advertisers and sponsors I would have had to give DDL up a long time ago.

I want to take some time to thank the people who keep coffee in my Starbucks cup and help to keep the lights on, so to speak.

Rockin’ Green and Diaper Lab are two of my longest advertisers.  They weren’t the very first but they were pretty close and are still with me!  I hope that means they like me.  I have been using Rockin’ Green since it first came out.  I still remember a time when RnG was not in practically every cloth diaper mama’s laundry room.  And, in one of my trips, I was able to visit Diaper Lab in Somerville, MA.  I remember their adorable Spring window display of stuffed bunnies in cloth diapers!

More thanks to Bamboobies, Peachy Green (Formerly Bright Star Baby), Fluffy Rump, AMP Diapers, Go Green Baby Company, Pumpease, My Baby Wears Cloth and Basic Baby.

I also want to send a huge thanks to those companies advertising on my database, Cloth Diaper Finder.  This website took thousands to build and continues to cost money with the complexity of the design.  When one thing breaks, 5 more things fail and only very skilled developers can handle the fixes and building.  It was my DREAM to build this database and seeing it come to life has been rewarding but far more challenging than I anticipated.  Advertising dollars from the Finder go right back into development and upkeep.  Modern Cloth, Monkey Doodlez, One Posh Baby, Mom’s Milk Boutique, Natural Pure Essentials, and more have helped me keep my dream alive.

I also give diaper companies who list their diaper using my Add My Diaper form the option of making a donation for being listed.  I’d like to thank those companies who kindly did so.  I don’t charge to add diapers because I’d love to add as many as possible, but I make this an option to help offset the time and cost of the website.

Another way I have been able to use the blog to either pay bills, or pay for itself, has been through affiliate sales.  I have been able to earn income and buy more diapers to review thanks to YOU ordering through my affiliates like Kelly’s Closet, Sweet Bottoms Baby Boutique Diaper Junction and more, so THANK YOU!

I often marvel at the fact that I started this blog with the intention of periodically filming videos on diapers and posting them and seeing it turn into a resource for cloth diapering families that also helps out in the bill department once in a while.  Some months I swear I spend more ON the blog than I make, but then other months are better.  I just hope it all evens out.  I’ve been lucky to work with some amazing cloth diaper and eco-friendly companies over the years.  I will continue to work advertising into my blog in order to make it possible to keep DDL alive while still being ethical and as unobtrusive into the experience of reading the blog as possible.

If you love DDL please consider these companies when making your cloth diaper purchases (or reusable breast pad, hands free pumping bras, and all of the other goodies!) because they keep the coffee cup full.

If your company is interested in partnering with DDL you can fill out my form.and I’ll give you more information.

BlogHer 2011 Here I Come! DDL Needs Sponsors!

BlogHer 2011 Here I Come! DDL Needs Sponsors!

I am finally committing to a blog conference for this year. In August I will be hitting the skies and flying out to San Diego for BlogHer with my family in tow!!! I wrestled with the decision, mainly due to the controversy surrounding the sponsors and swaggyness, but in the end I knew as long as I keep my head on straight and plan my sessions accordingly it will be educational and worth the trip.
I'm Wearing a Cute Baby to BlogHer '11!

Besides, all of my bloggy friends and tweeps are going.  It will be a huge cloth diaper party!

I have decided to get very serious about my blog this year.  It was a hobby, then it became a side job, and now I am working on optimizing it to be worth the time I put into it.  I have a sitter come once a week which allows me time to work on posts and videos, but she costs quite a bit of money!

So, if you are looking to have your brand represented at BlogHer and be promoted on my blog, won’t you consider sponsoring Dirty Diaper Laundry?

My site receives 16,000-30,000 visits a month, depending on the events going on.  My readers are very engaged and usually spend about 3 minutes at each visit.  And my traffic is always growing!  There are over 1,100 Google Followers and over 1,000 people receive my blog daily in their email!  I am also currently in the process of starting a monthly newsletter.

I also have a wonderful and active Facebook Fanpage! 1,700 people “like” me, but hopefully they really like me too!  I also have 2,700 followers on Twitter. On YouTube I have a rapidly growing number of subscribers to my video reviews and informational videos.  Right now I am at over 400!

Because my audience is fairly specific (female, mostly 25-34, mothers, cloth diaper lovers, a little crunchy) I am looking for sponsors in that same vein.  This will be the best fit for everyone!

I have to say, I love my readers!  And since they are reading this too, let me promise you that I would only represent a brand I am familiar with and love.  You won’t start reading tweets and posts about Licorice Bites or something. Blech!

If you decide to sponsor I will:

  • Put your logo on my business card which will be passed out to hundreds of people!
  • Put your logo on my beautiful purple laptop for the conference.
  • Periodically make posts about your brand until BlogHer.
  • Every post about BlogHer will include a link to your website and mention you as my sponsor.
  • Put your ad on my sidebar for the period of 4 months (May-August) which in itself is almost worth the cost of a partial sponsorship!
  • Tweet and Facebook important information and sale updates to my followers.
  • I will adhere to BlogHer Sponsor guidelines, and hand out information and swag on your behalf at areas deems safe to do so.
  • And, if I can wear it or show it (cloth diapers, nursing attire, etc) I will!  I will have my 10 month old son with me who I will be wearing around so keep that in mind as well!
  • If it is logical to do so, I may even do a few videos for you to put on my blog and on YouTube.

The total estimated cost of attending BlogHer is $1,800. This includes 3 nights Hotel Stay, cost of ticket (already purchased), and round trip airfare for myself.

Ideally I would like to split the cost 3 ways which means each sponsor will pay $600.

I am not a mega mommy blogger and I am ok with that. I do stand behind the integrity of my blog, the purpose, and the quality of the content.  I am so very excited to have to opportunity to learn how to make my blog a better one.   I love what I do and want to continue to blog for a long time!

If you are interested in discussing sponsorship opportunities with me in greater detail, including the different levels of sponsorship, shoot me an email! kdrosas at gmail dot com.

Send me to Blissdom 2010 in Toronto!

Picture 18I have not been to a blogging conference yet.  Do you know why?  Because I either procrastinate and don’t buy my ticket in time (Blogher) or I am too pregnant.  Blissdom 2010 is being held at the end of October in Toronto.  Toronto is a 4 hour drive for me and the date is over 2 weeks after my due date.

I have decided that I am going to go, but I can’t do it alone! I am looking for a few sponsors who would be willing to help with the cost of a ticket and hotel. No need for airfare because I will be driving.

As a sponsor companies will be featured on my website and my other social media outlets as well at the conference itself.  I am looking specifically for sponsors that I can easily promote at Blissdom.  And here is what I am thinking…. I will have my adorable newborn son with me.  I will be wearing him and diapering him and breastfeeding him.  Wouldn’t it be awesome for a baby carrier company, diaper company, and/or breastfeeding company to help this mama out? I will also be carrying a diaper bag, so those companies can apply too!  I will be with lots of mamas who will see me around so this is already great exposure!

If I could I would pay for my own ticket and lodging to avoid “begging” for a sponsor.  Bu frankly, I can’t.  Plus I have a lot to offer to a sponsor who fits my readership. I wouldn’t agree to be sponsored by a company I wouldn’t promote anyway so you can rest assured I won’t be going thanks to the P word (rhymes with Hampers).  I’d love to learn how to make my blog better.  My mission has always been to promote cloth diapers, babywearing, breastfeeding, and other “crunchy” topics close to my heart.  If I can reach more readers that is even better.  I am kind of amazed at how far my website has come since it began over a year ago.  I didn’t think I would have ten readers, yet alone the 1,000 plus a day who make it here.  I love every one of you guys and I am so glad you stop in.  Plus, I love drilling you for advice!

So, if you are out there sponsors, contact me so we can chat about a possible working relationship! I promise my baby will look good in your product.  Have you seen my first baby?  He is adorable!  Lightening will strike twice!

Welcoming two new Sponsors!

Welcome Diapers Etc and Jillian’s Drawers as new sponsors of DDL.  Their advertising dollars make DDL possible.  I am in the process of looking for a new video editing software, which is possible thanks to them!

jilliansJillian’s Drawers has been mentioned a few times here simply because I like to shop there!  It is located in Ithaca NY, just an hour or so away from me.  Besides their brick and mortar store, Jillian’s Drawers runs an online store.  They carry many cloth diaper brands including the Bum Genius, Kissaluvs, Planet Wise wet bags, etc.  They also have lots of carriers to choose from, breast feeding products, toys (like Haba!), and the Stokke and Svan highchairs!  Jillian’s also runs a very famous cloth diaper trial where you can try the best known brands for 10$!
