Baby Bond Stylish and Discreet Nursing Cover Review and Giveaway *closed*

newbaby_2010[1]This review was written and performed by DDL contributor, Kristen, and is part of March’s New Baby Event.

BabyBondlogoI think the Baby Bond Nursing Sash is very possibly one of the most useful baby items I have.  I am exclusively breastfeeding my second daughter, which was my goal, but I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to go through with it.  I am a very active person who can’t stand sitting around the house.  I am also a very modest/conservative dresser and was very apprehensive about nursing in public places.  It is one of the reasons why I was not able to exclusively breastfeed my first daughter.  I wasn’t comfortable breastfeeding without a cover but I wasn’t comfortable using a cover because I felt like it was glaringly obvious what I was doing.  So, this time around I was determined to find some way to overcome being uncomfortable nursing in public so that I could exclusively breastfeed.

babybondThe Baby Bond nursing sash has made that possible for me because it is a sash that goes around you with two fabric pieces in the front, one to each side of your breast and your baby can latch on in between while the fabric hides all of your breast.  It’s great because you can see what you are doing, which is important for me because both times my girls have had trouble latching and with my first, it was so hard to get the latch right while trying to hide under a cover.

BabyBond™ nursing accessories cover mom, not her baby. Mom is able to maintain her modesty. Baby remains uncovered benefiting from the infinite opportunity to make eye contact, interact, and communicate. After all, dining is social.

It is also fantastic because it isn’t really obvious what it is or what you are doing.  Most people will just think you are holding your baby, which makes me more comfortable with nursing in public.

The Baby Bond comes in 3 styles: original, flex and couture.  The original and flex appear to be a similar style, with a closed fabric sash that can be used for nursing from the top of your shirt.  They both also come with a built in terry velour burp cloth.  The couture was the one I reviewed and it can either be worn as a cover for when you nurse from the top, or you can wear it as a belly band if you lift your shirt up to nurse and want to cover your belly.  The original and flex come with a matching storage pouch, and the couture rolls up into a self storing pouch for neat and compact storage, which is nice.  It comes in a variety of basic colors to choose from, but it would be nice to see a larger variety in the original and flex styles.

I love my Baby Bond nursing sash and make sure to always have it in my diaper bag and ready to use.  I think it will be one of the best products for someone who wants to keep their modesty and be able to nurse discreetly without having to cover their baby under a nursing cover.

October is “All About Babywearing” Month

Fresh off of “All About Wool” Week is another big event here on Dirty Diaper Laundry and our sister site Mama Needs This. Who needs a clean house or a social life when there is so much to blog about?!?!

October is all about Babywearing. I am going to be reviewing a lot of carriers including but not limited to: the brand new Boba from Sleepy Wrap, Rockin’ Ring Sling, Cybex 2.GO, Babyhawk, Ergo, and more. Plus look for giveaways! I will also be showing some helpful videos with tips and tricks for using your carrier. We skipped International Babywearing Week and decided to make it a whole month. Plus, it happens to be International Attachment Parenting month, and what is more AP than wearing your baby close to your heart?

The whole month will not be devoted to babywearing. I will still be posting my fabulous Cloth Diaper Video Reviews and other entries related to neither babywearing nor cloth diapers. Shocked?

EC Wear- ECA Pants Review

EProcketsI was sent a pair of teeny tiny training pants by ECA Wear from EC Wear, a website where you can find products for ECing and resources to help you get started.

ecapantsThe ECA Pants I was sent are first off, the cutest tiniest things you have ever seen.  It is so strange to see a baby without a huge fluffy butt.  ECA Pants are thin enough that they don’t look like diapers, but they have enough absorbency to hold in one pee, just in case we have a miss!  You can get them in snaps or velcro, and waterproof or not.  Waterproof ECA Pants would be great for the baby who is excellent at ECing and who can use a public toilet.  For us, the non waterproof were perfect.  They allowed me to keep checking to make sure we hadn’t missed a pee, and in the one case where we did miss (I had the bath running but hadn’t put him on the potty yet in case he had to go, which he did.  Water works!) the ECA Pants held in the pee without leaking down the legs.  I could tell immediately that he was peeing and started making our cue “pssst.”  Even though we missed, I still want him to associate the “psst” sound with going, in a diaper or on the potty.

EcaPant_open_viewWhat I have to convey to you is how easy these make ECing.  Because they have an elastic band in the front, when you undo the front of the pants, just like you would a side snapping diaper, the pants stay on.  Essentially, you just remove the front so that they can go, and push it to the back.  When your child is done, just flip the front back up and resnap.  I can even resnap him as he crawl away!  Something that does not work with a diaper since it isn’t attached to him.

If you are an ECing parent, these aren’t a must have, but they do make your life so much easier!  Sometimes I find myself being lazy about EC (especially for a few weeks where we took a “break” with life being so hectic) and when I think about having to take off pants, undo diaper, potty, then chase the baby while I try to put a diaper and pants back on, I get exhausted by the thought.  Having an easy way to EC can certainly keep me focused on my son and his needs, even when the day is jam packed.

About EC Wear:

EC Wear LLC, based in New York City, is owned and operated by Marija, a work-at-home-mom (WAHM).  Marija and her husband Chuck have been practicing Elimiination Communication with their son since his birth.  Initially, their interest came out of concern for the environment and dislike of disposable diapers.  Eventually, they realized the best benefit of EC was for their son’s health. At EC Wear you will find clothes in sizes newborn to 24 months that are made in USA, Canada, Europe, or Australia, fair trade, or made by women in their homes or in workers’ cooperatives. It is our priority to disclose the origins of every item we sell. Of course, nearly all of the clothing is suitable for any parents who are looking for convenience in clothing and diaper changes, whether practicing EC or not.

Experimentation and Poll

For first time visitors: ignore :) For anyone who has been visiting the past few days I have made some changes and will continue to make changes. I am still getting the hang of this “blog” and ways to enhance it for readers and myself. I will be customizing the look further; I have a really cool photo shoot planned. It may happen today even!!! I did get the ads started but I don’t think they detract too much from the overall appearance. Do you? I have recently added Google Friend Connect; you can become a follower of my blog by logging in under your Google handle, Yahoo ID, or AIM username. If you have none of these- sorry. I also put my twitter up. I can’t promise I will have any exciting updates but follow me and you will be updated as soon as I post a new blog. This is a great way to keep up to date with the blog.

Like I have stated before, my next video review will be a comparison of Gro Baby Diapers and G Diapers. I think this will be very helpful for some of you who are new to cloth and can’t decide a good “on the go” diaper. Cloth is bulkier than disposables. For the space you can fit 2 regular cloth diapers or around 10 disposables!!! G Diapers and Gro Baby offer a solution for that. Keep an eye out for the review.

What diaper would you like to see a review of?

If it is other leave a comment for suggestions! Thanks!
