I have already reviewed the older version of the Charlie Banana 2-in-2 One Size cloth diaper. Now, the sizing mechanism is new and improved. Rather than using button hole elastic, the Charlie Banana now uses a sliding adjustment similar to that of a bra. I LOVE this new update and it is probably the easiest of the elastic sizing cloth diapers out currently.
Ease of Use ✩✩✩✩ I’m going to say it, to date this is the easiest elastic sizing One Size diaper I have tried. The markings to designate size are easy to follow (no need to read what a 5 is) and the adjuster moves easily back and forth. There is no need to dig deep to find the elastic either. Stuffing the pocket isn’t too bad, there is a generous sized opening for 1 or two inserts. You can find disposable inserts for these diapers, making them a hybrid system if you are traveling. They are easy to lay in under the flat pocket flap.
Bang for the Buck ✩✩✩ The Solid Colors run 20.88 and the Prints are 21.88. They are more than many other similar pockets available. I will say that they are made extremely well. The older versions of their diapers that I own are still functioning and looking great after a year of use.
Performance ✩✩✩✩ The inserts included with a Charlie Banana One Size cloth diaper are really thick (not too thick) and are absorbent enough alone for our use. I can use the Large insert with the diaper sized to the Medium and it fits and holds up well. I don’t have a heavy wetter, FYI. I didn’t use this diaper overnight because I don’t like pockets at night. I used fitteds and covers. Nothing personal, I just didn’t take a chance. We didn’t have a single leak with this diaper.
Fit ✩✩✩✩ I tried the larger of the Medium settings on my first try and it was exactly what I needed. Even if I had needed to make an adjustment it wouldn’t have been too difficult. The tabs meet in the middle, and there is a cross over snap if you need it. The diaper has good stretch whe nyou are putting it on the baby and I felt like I got a great fit every time. The hip snap is in a good spot, but since the male snaps are on the tabs if the wearer gets too large for those snaps farther back to be fastened they could touch the skin. I can’t say if this is an issue or not. The One Size doesn’t seem to get as big as their Sized Large diaper, but since many kids never wear a Large it might not be a problem for many parents. It sizes up pretty small, and I used the older OS on my newborn and it did work. The crotch is also narrower than many other brands.
Overall: I am over the moon excited about such a stupid smart sizing system. They hit this one out of the park! Charlie Banana One Size cloth diapers might make me a fan of elastic sizing one size diapers again. There are no snaps to be seen on the front which is nice. Their PUL feels nice to the touch, and sturdy. The fleece washes well in my experience. I’m thrilled that I was able to meet Gaelle and the Charlie Banana team; they were all incredibly nice and excited about their new product. The fact that they have been able to get Charlie Banana to many mainstream stores like Babies r Us is amazing. Some people argue that cloth shouldn’t be sold in bog box stores, but it creates awareness that small businesses just can’t match. Great diaper, great quality, cute colors and prints!

I made the trip with Everett to the 9th Annual ABC Kids Expo almost 2 weeks ago and I’m still recovering. This year the event was held in Louisville KY. I was going to see all of the new cloth diapers and baby carriers, but when time allowed I snuck over to other booths as well. There were a lot of products that made you scratch your head and say “WHAT?” {see The BabyGuyNYC’s post about the WTF products} and then there were things that were just Stupid Smart.
If you need a description of what Stupid Smart means I’ll try to put it simply:
Something that is Stupid Smart is an idea so obvious and brilliant that it is stupid no one thought of it sooner.
Here are my picks for the Stupidest Smartest innovations and new products at ABC Kids Expo.
1. Charlie Banana’s *new* One Size Adjustment System
Charlie Banana used to be have a button hole elastic adjustment system, similar to the Fuzzibunz One Size and Evolution Ion. If you take a look in the newest Charlie Banana One Size diapers you’ll notice something familiar….. to size your elastic straps you have what look like bra shoulder strap adjusters. These slide over the elastic to make it larger or smaller. Even smarter, to know where to size you want the adjuster to be over the letters for sizing. If you want a Small, you should have the adjuster over the “S.” {website}
2. Leslie’s Boutique Wet/Dry Bags with Pleating
This may not be brand new, but this was the first time I had seen the Leslie’s Boutique Wet/Dry Bags. When I was given the tour and shown the pleating on the Dry portion of the bag I wanted to slap my forehead. Duh. I have used other Wet/Dry Bags and have been frustrated by the lack of space in the front portion. It doesn’t make a lot of sense that I can fit more in the Wet portion than the Dry. What goes in dirty had to start clean somewhere! The pleating makes for much more room in the Dry portion, roughly equivalent to the space in the Wet portion. {website}
3. Boba 3G with Purse Strap
There are a million things I can say about the new Boba 3G. It now accomodates babies smaller than 15 pounds, has improved foot straps, has the ability to work with their new Messenger diaper bag, and more. But the feature that excited me the most and made me think, boy that is Stupid Smart, was the Purse Strap. There is a strap that unsnaps on the shoulder of the Boba. This is meant to go over your purse or diaper bag strap, then you snap it onto your carrier.
I will say that since using this strap it has limitations. Heavier bags might make your shoulder strap slide. A lighter purse or smaller diaper bag is about all I would trust it for. Still, the idea is great and I do find it handy with the right bags. Rock on Boba, you guys are always making me love you! {website}
4. Sippy Sure- the Medicine Dispensing Sippy Cup
This has nothing to do with cloth diapers, but sometimes a a stupid smart idea deserves attention. I don’t give my children medicine often at all, but I do know in the cases where they have needed an antibiotic, it can be a chore to have them ingest it. This cup uses a medicine cup that screws into the lid. The appropriate measurements are put into the measure cup, and a little watered down juice or other beverage is put into the actual sippy. Small portions of medicine mix with the drink. You will know exactly how much they have left since the medicine stays in the measured cup. This might not work for all kids, but I am a fan of the idea. The mother who invented it used to have to add the medicine to her child’s juice but could never tell how much they had. Problem solved! {website}
5. BabyZen Flat Folding Stroller
I happen to love strollers, even though I wear my baby. A good stroller is still worth it’s weight in gold. And a stroller that fits into a tiny trunk (like my trunk when all seats are up) is pretty remarkable. The BabyZen folds small and flat enough to fit into the trunk of a Mini Cooper. But that isn’t why I am including it. The Stupid Smart idea that your stroller should still ROLL while folded, and stay upright, gets major props from this Syracuse dweller. Often, when a stroller is folded it falls to the {snowy} ground. It gets dirty, you get dirty, and your car gets dirty. The BabyZen stays upright when folded and can then be wheeled, while folded and upright. That is why I lust for one. Seeing it in person just solidified that love. {website}

A few months ago I reviewed the Mo Dia One Size Pocket. My original thoughts on the diaper were pretty positive; it worked great, the design was stylish and unique, and the included hemp fleece soaker was amazing. The downside was the sizing; the waist was a little too small and the rise a little too short. I didn’t expect it to last Everett more than a few more months- how would it last until potty training?
After that review and other customers agreeing with that sentiment the two ladies behin Mo Dia went back to the drawing board. They now have a new pattern for their One Size Pocket that addressed both issues. The sizing is more realistic and more like other OS diapers. I have a video and review for the new Mo Dia. if you would liek to compare to my old review and video you can visit this link.
Ease of Use ✩✩✩ The Mo Dia I reviewed is a snapping diaper with 2 snaps on each tab, 4 snaps total to close. The rise, like many other One Size diapers, has a 3 step snapping adjustment. This is only applicable when you need to size up or down so you don’t have to do it for each change. The insert is one long piece of hemp fleece. The simplicity is genius. You fold it to the desired length, and place the most layers folded over where you need them (front for boy/tummy sleeper and middle for girl). The folding does take longer than just using a sized or pre-snapped OS insert which is why it gets 3 stars.
Bang for the Buck ✩✩✩✩ A Mo Dia runs about 21$ with the hemp insert included. These diapers have a very custom look, even those that aren’t made to order. The snaps usually coordinate well with the fabric options. Some have full PUL outer, some have PUL bodies and cotton knit over PUL tabs, and some are the reverse. Now that the sizing is larger it is even more of a good investment than the previous version.
Performance ✩✩✩✩ I wish I could tell you how much these inserts rock my socks. They look so simple, and they are, but work better than most other included inserts. So, you have to fold them to size… not a HUGE deal. I’ve used this diaper for longer naps and daytime for Everett (10 months old) and nights for my toddler (almost 3) with no leaking or wicking problems. No red marks either!
Fit ✩✩✩✩ When you fix one problem you potentially cause another. The previous Mo Dia sized up nice and tiny and would likely be a good fit for very small babies. Adding more to the rise and width makes it look bulkier. I have not tried it on a new/small baby but I’m just basing on what I have seen. On Everett, who is 20 pounds and 10 months old, he still had one more snap on the rise and a snap on each side for the second snap in on the tab. After that the male end of the snap would touch skin, however I don’t think that is going to happen. And since he is pretty wide I don’t know how many others it would happen to either. They aren’t the trimmest cloth diaper out there but I don’t mind fluffy. Just poutting that out there.
Overall: The fact that Mo Dia adjusted their pattern based on user feedback is incredibly awesome and proves how much they care about their product and customers. The new Mo Dia is just as cute but with more growing room. The quality of the diaper is obvious, the stitching is clean and I haven’t seen any loose threads. They come up with the most adorable color and print combinations too!

I love to be contacted by companies who want added to my Cloth Diapers Made in the US and Canada list. After Jenny from Posh Pumpkins and I started emailing we decided I should review her One Size All in One- Posh Pumpkins. The Neon color combos really drew me in, not to mention the unique soaker design.
Ease of Use ✩✩✩✩ The Posh Pumpkins OS acts like an All in One since the soakers are always attached. Before putting the diaper onto the baby you’ll need to ensure that the soakers are laying flat since after washing/drying they will have shifted around. The diaper has 4 snaps, 2 on each tab, that need to be snapped when applied to the baby. That is easier than some snapping diapers with snaps farther in on the tab. For sizing the diaper has a 3 Step Rise with 2 Snaps each rise setting (3×2 grid). This only needs to be done when the baby moves to a new size setting.
Bang for the Buck ✩✩✩ This OS is on the higher end of prices at 27.95. The materials used (bamboo), production in the US, and being an AIO make it a bit pricier than others.
Performance ✩✩✩✩ What a cool All in One! I have only seen one other in this concept, where the soakers overlap and are sewn one on each end. The diaper is plenty absorbent for daytime with 6 layeyrs of organic cotton/bamboo for the soakers. Drying time for an AIO is reduced since the soakers do move about and aren’t sewn down. I did not choose to use this diaper overnight since there is a layer of Bamboo over the waterproof hidden layer. I never experienced any wicking during the day but it was more of a possibility at night. Some diapers are just better for days and there is nothing wrong with that.
Fit ✩✩✩ It is not secret that Ev is a plus size baby cloth diaper tester. The Posh Pumpkins fit his waist fine, though he is nearing the end of that allowance but we have a few snaps left. The rise was shorter than I would like, enough that he is on the unsnapped setting completely. It is a possibility that that will work just fine but it would be nice to have a little more room since in many other OS diapers he is on the middle snap setting. The thighs were fine on his chunky legs, a good thing.
Overall: I liked the soft bamboo layer on the outside, and thankfully we never experienced any wicking from that being there. The logo is adorable, one of my favorites for any cloth diaper. The colors are so bright and fun which makes me want to collect them all and add them to a neon cloth diaper drawer; they remind me of growing up as a kid in the 90′s. The mama behind the brand is so awesome so I think everyone should go buy a PP!

Posted on 11 July 2011. Tags: cloth diapers, fleece, lollidoo, one size, video cloth diaper review
Lollidoo is a brand I have had a relationship with for nearly two years. I first learned about their super awesome diapers made from recycled plastic bottles before going to a conference in Las Vegas. While there I was able to meet Alison and Melissa, the women behind the brand. They both made me cry with their dedication to a sustainable world, their commitment to keeping production in the US, and their passion for cloth diapers. It has been a pleasure reviewing their improved One Size Recycled Outtie. While it may seem strange using a fleece pocket (or cover) is a great way to get air flowing and it is easier to care for then the even pricier wool covers.
Ease of Use ✩✩✩ After using the previous version of this cloth diaper I am really happy with the improvements on the sizing mechanics. Granted, I was using a prototype for my first review. Having the fleece handles on the button make it easy to find. The elastic is thin and not numbered which makes it a bit harder than similar button style elastic sizing one size cloth diapers. I also reviewed the snaps version the first time, and this time I have a velcro diaper. I am liking how I can get a perfect fit around my son’s waist.
Bang for the Buck ✩✩✩ I LOVE Lollidoo as a company and for what they stand for. I can honestly say there are few people in the cloth diaper world that I have met who care more about their impact on the environment and their contribution to US jobs than Alison and Melissa. Unfortunately, those innovations (fleece from recycled plastic bottles, yo!) will add to the cost of the diaper. A diaper with inserts runs 28-32 depending on the model and the type of inserts you choose.
Performance ✩✩✩✩ Fleece is surprisingly water resistant. It seems odd that fleece is a layer next to the baby’s skin, meant to be peed through (and thus not “waterproof” but it is also on the outside layer preventing leaks. That outer fleece is much thicker. The diaper worked well for us as long as we had the size correct. Leaks occurred while we were getting the right fit, once that happened it worked great, even for nights. It should be noted that fleece can have Compression Leaks (leaks where the baby is sitting or laying when the insert is saturated) and this isn’t an issue with PUL outer diapers.
Fit ✩✩✩✩✩ This new version fits amazing on Ev, I LOVED how it fit his big thighs and that the fleece was soft on them as well. He is really outgrowing a lot of diapers these days and I have a lot of room left on the rise and legs with this one.
Overall: There are a lot of reasons to love Lollidoo, and their commitment to quality products/environment/fair labor and wages is my number one. I also love the new sizing and the cuteness of these fluffy diapers. The major drawbacks of their fleece pockets come after heavy use. It is important to air dry those diapers because even just drying once in a dryer will start the fleece to pilling. I also had a black diaper to review. This one attracted lint which was noticable and that might annoy others. Function wise there is little to complain about, however.

Ease of Use ✩✩✩✩ I am finding a lot of love for contours. I don’t mind using a Snappi at all and it is easier in many ways than using snaps. Like you can see in the video, it isn’t very time consuming to put over the baby and then snappi on. Keep in mind that I still need to add a cover though, unlike an AIO or Pocket diaper.
Bang for the Buck ✩✩✩ This particular contour isn’t saving a huge amount over buying a Fitted, and the whole point of a contour (to me) is to save money! It retails for about 10.95.
Performance ✩✩✩✩ The diaper is definitely absorbent enough for us for overnights and we have used it quite a bit. The fact thatthe insert is microfiber cuts down on bulk versus using all cotton fleece but it can get the stinkies since it is what we use overnight more than the daytime. Thos are the Pros and Cons of Microfiber I suppose.
Fit ✩✩✩ This diaper isn’t going to last us much longer. To be fair, Ev is very chunky, but even the rise is not as long as I would like. The leg elastic only comes up so far, so when you have larger legs the fit is just off. It still “fits” but I don’t like the way it works on him.
Overall: If there was a bit more room and the diaper were a bit cheaper I would like it more. There are contours I prefer to this one but I like how the fleece gives it a textured feel, and I love the sweet Kissaluvs colors it comes in.
I purchased this diaper using my Diaper Junction affiliate money (so remember to shop my affiliates, that equals more diapers for me to review!). I will be donating this diaper to Giving Diapers, Giving Hope in the next shipment!

Ease of Use ✩✩✩✩ In many ways I find the Pooters Contour (and others) to be even easier than fitteds with snaps or aplix closures. To newbies I’m sure the lack of any concrete markers for fit can be scary but really, it is not that bad. The best part is that you get the exact size you want. Snappis also may look a bit scary but they get easier the more you practice with them.
Bang for the Buck ✩✩✩✩✩ 6.00! One Size! I don’t even think I have to justify what a great deal that is. I will admit that you might spend a little more if you have to buy a doubler (likely for toddlers or overnight usage) but that is still a far cry from some of the more expensive (and more complicated) fitteds.
Performance ✩✩✩✩ Daytime we did not use a doubler and it would be soaked in about 3 hours for Ev (7 months old). I wouldn’t call him a heavy wetter, just average. Nights I used the hemp doubler (also from Pooters) and had no leaks once it was fully prepped. I jumped the gun and used that combo after maybe 2 washes and I did get a leak. Lesson learned, I will be less impatient next time.
Fit ✩✩✩✩ I think this contour will last up to potty learning. Another brand I have been trying has Ev on the largest possible option and he is about to max out the waist and the rise. You can find a photo of a newborn in the contour on Pootersdiapers.com. It is bulky but looks like it fits, but will probably fit even better in a mere 1-2 pounds for that baby.
Overall: This is another fantastic product from Pooters. I also reviewed their fitted and loved it. I think I will have to try their pocket (by request) next and hope it is as good as their others. I also just have to add that working with the owner of Pooters, Majaliwa, has always been a pleasure. I can tell how much she cares about her products and cloth diapering even through email. She is a great mom to buy from and support! I think that Contours are often forgotten when looking into cloth diapers. I don’t see why! They are easy and less expensive that fitteds.

Posted on 11 April 2011. Tags: button hole elastic, evolution ion, one size, video cloth diaper review
The Evolution Ion is a One Size diaper that should fit babies 5-40 pounds. There is adjustable elastic in the waist and legs.
Ease of Use ✩✩✩ The Ion is a One Size system using adjustable leg and back elastic. It is a side snapping diaper with 3 snaps per side, so you don’t have to adjust the waist elastic every month; you get it fitting well on the tightest snap then have 2 more to grow before needed an adjustment. In the video I show you that it is easiest to adjust this type of diaper by laying it over a cover that already fits your baby. It takes much of the guesswork out! After getting the right fit it is an easy diaper to put on and having less snaps to choose from works great for dads! The diaper needs to be stuffed, or you can choose to lay the insert in if you prefer. The insert is contoured so it can be a little harder to stuff but you get used to this quickly.
Bang for the Buck ✩✩✩✩ An Ion will cost you 25.00, which is on the high end of OS diapers. I would be willing to pay this price considering how well it has worked for us and how much I love the trimness. Plus they have some cute prints, but I would wait on those.
Performance ✩✩✩✩✩ I adjusted the diaper blindly at first, and surprise, had a leak our first use! When I filmed I resized based on a cover and it fit my son like a glove. From then on we have only had one other leak, this one related to not using the larger insert so it wasn’t absorbent enough for him.
Fit ✩✩✩✩✩ I wasn’t able to test this on a newborn so I can’t say that it definitely fits one, but for us it has fit so well! The trimness is so impressive, and for those of you who like a clean looking diaper this one has a very clean and trim looking front! The diaper lays flat on the tummy. The back will look gathered since you adjust the waist elastic within. Funny enough, I am not a huge fan of side snapping diapers or button hole elastic adjusting diapers, however, this one has won me over!
Overall: I think why I like this diaper so much has to do with the fact that I got a good fit early on and could stop fiddling with it. My favorite feature is the adjustable waist, it means no long tabs with 5 or 6 snaps to deal with. They use Cool Max fabric as the lining, which is much like the athletic weave material for work out clothes. I don’t feel as if it wicks moisture away as well as Suedecloth or Microfleece but it is made from recycled materials and is stretchy, making stuffing the pocket easier. I tried both inserts and loved their shape and trimness. The biggest negative was that the print I tried, Rockstar, which is adorable, started wearing off. Stacee is working to fix this issue so for now I would buy solids until that is addressed. I can’t wait to see the new and improved prints though.

Mo Dia is an Etsy brand that combines stylish designer prints, colorful snap combos, and PUL solid colors to create a gorgeous cloth diaper! The diapers are made my two Mom’s who obviously have an eye for style! I would say this is a WAHM diaper but these ladies have day jobs and make diapers, plus they are moms! They definitely stay busy!
Ease of Use ✩✩✩ Like many snapping diapers, this one has 4 snaps to close, two on each tab. If you have the velcro version it would go on just like a disposable. It is a pocket so it has to be stuffed before being used, and unstuffed before being washed. An added step will be folding the insert before inserting it to the desired size.
Bang for the Buck ✩✩✩✩ A Mo Dia will run about 20.00, including the hemp insert. I find that to be a more than fair price factoring in labor, quality materials, and an awesome insert.
Performance ✩✩✩✩ Ev has tested this diaper pretty thoroughly, including overnight. The hemp insert is very absorbent, one of my favorite features of the diaper. I underestimated my son and began using the diaper on the smallest setting but after a couple of leaks went to the middle rise and this solved the problem.
Fit ✩✩✩ In the rise the fit was great for my son once we went to the middle setting, and we have room for growth in that setting as well as once the diaper is unsnapped. Waist wise I think the diaper could use more width. Now that I have a chunky baby I see how he could outgrow this diaper in the waist at some point. In the video I show you where the diaper snaps and that the male snap ends would hit skin if done any wider. If they added an inch or two to the waist that would help. The waist elastic is a good idea and I am seeing more diapers adopt this design. (FYI, the velcro version would not have this issue)
Overall- The combinations of prints and colors that these women come up with for their diapers are pretty fabulous! You won’t see diapers like this that are mass produced. Their velcro tabs look awesome but I haven’t tried them.

I have had a relationship with Charlene, the inventor and owner of Tiny Tush, for almost as long as my website as been around. (forever, right?!) Before I even introduce the diaper I have to say that Charlene is one of the nicest, most caring, compassionate people I have ever had the pleasure of doing business with. When I put out the call for cloth diapers to send to families in need 2 Christmases ago, she didn’t just send 1 box, she sent 2 gigantic boxes. And she even wanted to send more. She does so much for others and her commitment to cloth diapers is a small part of it. Now that you know a little about Charlene, I will tell you about the new Tiny Tush Elite 1.1. I reviewed it a year ago, but there have been some exciting improvements! Now, the rise snaps match the color of the PUL. This is a biggie for me! I think matching snaps (or coordinating for funkiness) add to the look of the diaper, whereas white snaps detract. Also, she added a cross over snap for the smaller waisted infants and newborns and spaced out the tab snaps more. Everything else is the same.
Ease of Use ✩✩✩✩ The Elite 1.1 still comes in a snapping and velcro version. The velcro is easy peasy, but since it is a pocket you still need to unstuff the diaper before washing and restuff it. There is only 1 row of snaps, but 2 on each tab, so a total of 4. Without hip snaps it is quicker to put on. The reverse envelope design of the pocket opening prevents poop from getting in the pocket (a huge PITA) but it also makes unstuffing a little harder because you need to open that space and remove it. There is no chance of just shaking the insert out, so have a cloth wipe handy!
Bang for the Buck ✩✩✩✩ The price is still 17.95. You get 1 large and 1 small microfiber insert (imported) and the pocket diaper (MADE IN THE US). You also have the option on their website to upgrade inserts to US made, or cotton. Now the snaps match the PUL, and that to me makes them look more expensive. This is the same price you pay for most other OS diapers.
Performance ✩✩✩✩ I use these diapers a lot. Both the new 1.1 and the old version. That should say something when you take into account how many diapers I have to choose from. They work great, are absorbent, and are easy to use. I haven’t really had any leaks with the new 1.1, but with the old version I had a few when Ev was on the smallest rise setting of the velcro version.
Fit ✩✩✩✩ The TT Elite 1.1 still has a 4 step rise system, and will fit babies 7-35 pounds. Fletcher wears it with 2 snaps exposed (26 pounds, 2 years old) and Ev wears it with 1 set (16 pounds, 4 months). It isn’t the TRIMMEST pocket, and when it is on the smaller rises sometimes the microfleece leaves peeks out from the top. Not much I can do to prevent it but that hasn’t caused leaks. I love that there are cross over snaps, they are great when you need them!
Overall- The new colors are really pretty. I tested the Seaspray and it is a very nice color. There are lights and bolds, a great variety. Having a velcro or snap option is wonderful! I really like supporting companies like Tiny Tush. They try hard to keep production in the US, and do so much good in the world. Plus, they truly listen to feedback (as evidenced by the improvements).
