Circa 2007
And now I am a Mom. There are days I take off my PJ’s, take a shower, then put my PJ’s back on. Others where I put on jeans and a plain shirt, and the rare day where I put on “nice” clothes and leave the house. I am not saying being hot and being a mom are mutually exclusive; I just haven’t been able to balance keeping up appearances and working from home/raising kids/doing housework.
My husband often reminds me of how much he wishes I had my short hair again, or that he loves it when my eye shadow is “darker” and cooler. And so do I, but keeping a hair style can be pricey and putting on my full face is time consuming!
I also used to take the time to get a new piercing or new tattoo every once in a while. At one point I had my nose, tongue, lip, navel, and……. ahem…. pierced. I have 4 tattoos and all but one are Smashing Pumpkins related. I would love more tattoos but again, they are expensive and time consuming. Plus I am hoping to find an AMAZING artist to do my half sleeve in the future.

Rockin' no makeup and a pony tail.
Blogging, kids, and keeping house consume my entire life (not in that order). I know I need to take better care of myself and make time for my outside interests or hobbies. My husband would appreciate it and it would make me feel better. I am back to my pre-pregnancy weight and fitting back into my skinny size 2′s (thank you breastfeeding- I know it had nothing to do with diet or exercise since I have done neither) so my body deserves a little accentuation.
I have ordered a new pair of specs (eyeglasses are my favorite accessory) and will be getting a hair cut today! I have no idea what I am going to do with it. I have an insane high end make up collection but stick to the basic colors so I think I should get back into that. Sephora called and said they missed me and my money.
How do you juggle keeping up with fashion/hair/makeup and your mommy duties?

Today I was able to sleep in until 10, was served breakfast in bed, and my husband helped me clean the house. That must mean it is Mother’s Day!
I wanted to take the opportunity while my son is napping to wish all of the other Mothers out there a special day. Homemade cards, paintings, special treatment, and lots of hugs and kisses make for a wonderful day!
We all have a hard job. No matter if we use cloth diapers, disposables, breastfeed, formula, cosleep or CIO, parenting is hard work. We all have our opinions on what is best (you know I do!) but I am reminded of a post by Jenn from Cottonbabies about respect. We all choose different parenting methods, but as long as we love our babies and keep them happy, dry, clean, and fed that is the most important thing!
Every time I hear about the “mothers” who starve their children, abuse them, neglect them, I remind myself that those aren’t mothers. Those are monsters. Real moms do a great job, even when we don’t think we are.
When my son has peanut butter sandwiches or Easy Mac for lunch and refuses to touch a vegetable I feel guilty. Then it happens the next day, and the next. He eats a cookie and I feel terrible. And when he watches more TV than I would like but it was that or screaming, I feel even worse.
Despite all of that he is happy. He loves me unconditionally and shows it with lots of hugs, kisses, and snuggles. He can’t say “I love you” but it doesn’t matter. He didn’t get me a Mother’s Day gift but when he woke up this morning he gave me extra kisses, and that was the best gift in the world! And now I have one more baby on the way to make being a Mom even more special. I am terrified and excited all at the same time.
So enjoy your special day Moms, because tomorrow it is back to laundry and snot wiping.

Starting a blog is not as simple as it sounds. Depending on your goal it can be a lot of work. A personal blog for friends and family, piece of cake. A blog that you want the world to see is a bit harder. At MomDot they recently did a blog link-a-thon, which I participated in. Here is a list of a few hundred blogs. If you are looking for more blogs to subscribe to, follow, or just read on occasion then check out this list here. You are sure to find something fun to read. I have already gone through a few and there are some really great mom bloggers out there. Show ‘em some love!
