Bummis Super Lite Cover Review

Bummis Super Lite
Bummis Super Lite

Update: this product has been discontinued by Bummis.

I really wanted to try the Super Lite because I am a huge Bummis fan and because it looks so adorable!  DOn’t ask me why, but I’m in love with the white stitching.  This review is timely because this cover works superbly with a pad folded flat! If you are waiting for my Flats Challenge Link check back later today!

Ease of Use ✩✩✩✩✩ The Super Lite is definitely one of the easiest, if not the easiest, cover I’ve ever used. The closure uses a nice hook and loop with a wide strip and big tabs. This is going to be super easy for anyone to use! Plus, the SuperLite is sized so you never have to adjust the rise. Just grab and go.  I used this cover with flats, fitteds, and prefolds.  It worked best on trimmer options for me.

Bang for the Buck ✩✩✩✩ I love that the Super Lite is only 9.95. There are people who want sized cloth diapers and covers and Bummis always caters to those people. The price of 9.95 is very affordable for a quality and durable cover that will last through more than one child. And if you only need if for one, when the child outgrow it I bet it will hold its resale value very well.

Performance ✩✩✩✩ As long as a cover is made properly and it fits properly there should be no leaks. This is the case for the SuperLite, which worked great for day and nights. Not a leak in sight.

Fit ✩✩✩ This is the only issue I had with the Super Lite. Ev is a chunky boy, his thighs are bigger than my arms! We purchased a Medium which should fit babies 16-30 pounds. Ev is 19 pounds but we are having some red marks on his super chunky thighs and we are about to max out the waist! I’m holding out hope that he will once again fit well in this diaper (and others) once he starts crawling and thins out. I think then it will be a much better fit and the red marks won’t be an issue. I’ve discontinued using it for long periods (overnight) since the red marks were much worse then.

Overall: I’m really happy to have such a simple cover in my stash and hope to use it more in the future. It can be wipes clean very easily. Plus, I just love the style of it! The simple white stitching contrast on the tabs, the modern and bold colors, and the clean front just make is so nice to look at. I bought the purple because it was so stunning. Boys can wear purple, don’t judge!

I have been eying these covers. They look great for the price!

Have you thought about doing a post about ‘chunky babies’? My baby was really fast growing and very chunky. He outgrew his BG3.0’s at 10 weeks and was wearing thirsties size 2 by 8 weeks. Our newborn stash was a complete waste of money. I know that he was exceptional, but I think most diapers are made for average builds and having a chunky baby can be very frustrating for parents. Imaging buying a couple hundred dollars of fluff that should last until potty learning and your baby out grows it all at 6 months and you can’t easily find larger diapers to replace it with? Luckily I hadn’t invested too heavily in any one thing before my kid start to outgrow everything but if I’d bought an entire stash of 3.0s I’d have probably cried, thrown in the towel and bought disposables.
