Wow! There is a ton of information on the Applecheeks site. I learned that it cost around $68.80 per year for water (based on the Quebec rates) if you wash your cloth diapers every three days. Pretty impressive overall – and still cheaper than disposables!

Washing and dryer diapers will only raise your energy bill less than $70 per year! That would only buy 3 1/2 of the huge boxes of disposable diapers!

I think the main thing that hit me was the amount of diapers thrown out in a day. I know the figures are for Canada, but I can’t see that they would be a whole lot different than the US numbers. That is a lot of diapers!

I never thought I would be a fan of cloth diapering but we are loving it! I would love to try AppleCheeks as I am a huge fan of Canadian products and I am really liking the AppleCheek pocket system! They look great!

I switched to cloth as my newborn daughter had a rashes from front to back and getting yeast infections all within the first couple weeks. Prescription ointment didn’t help at all. Switch to cloth and cleared up within a few days. I learned how cheap each load of dirty diapers really is – which is definitely a bonus to having a rash free bum!!

i found out that they can be used as a diaper cover over our hemp or bamboo inserts, with boosters for added absorbency if so desired, and fleece liners to keep baby’s skin dry and rash-free.Or wide envelope opening allows you the option of placing your absorbency underneath the microfleece lining, wicking moisture away from baby’s skin and keeping him feeling nice and dry while still absorbing to the max! I love that they inserts agitate out in the wash!

I visited their site and learned that canadians call their water bill a hyrdo bill. HAHA. just kidding. I mean, I DID learn that, but I also got some legitimate information — disposable diapers use like 300 lbs of wood per kid. WOW. Even in canada, the land of trees and forests, that’s a lot of wasted wood.

I learned that even with the added energy/water costs, it will still be cheaper to cloth diaper our two little ones on the way than it will be to put them in disposables. On top of that the fact that we’re not using so much waste will offset the use of water for a more environmentally friendly household. Plus plus, we’re switching to an organic detergent in order to wash our cloth diapers, and we’ve decided to use the same brand of detergent (only with some added essential oil scent) for our regular laundry… so there’s yet another plus for our effect on the environment!
